1. Vegetated foredunes continue to erode...evident the entire mile.2. The bits of plastic in wrack line show up this time of year, then disappear by my next visit.

Driftline Content

Small rocks, Wood pieces. Many, many tiny to small pieces of broken plastic. Always present this time of year. Is it related to Japans March 2011 tsunami? Note from CoastWatch volunteer coordinator: While a lot of debris was forced across the ocean from the 2011 tsunami, marine plastics originate around the globe and are the result of increased plastic use since the 1950s. Because our coast and Japan share an ocean, plastic debris that comes from Japan is often found on Oregon's beaches.

Pistol River SP north, south of Myers Creek

Found the partial remains of a large (6'x6') cylindrical buoy on top of driftwood about 1/3 mile north of Henrys Rock (monolithic HR marks the south end of mile 23. Your reporter called Harris Beach SP who is responsible for cleanup of Pistol River SP which mile 23 is within. The rest of the beach is smooth and litter free.
