There has been a lot of beach buildup over the summer, and most of the large driftwood is partially covered.The dune vegetation has reached far from the dunes, especially the searockets. There is also a spread of both Eurpean beach grass and dunegrass onto the open beach.Bunker Creek disappears into the sand beside the dunes far from the high tide mark.

Notable Wildlife

Six Harbor Seals in the jaws of Alsea bay.It seems that the pigeon guillemots which were nesting on the cliffs have moved on.I saw one cormorant in the river mouth, and many gulls on the beach (facing south into the wind!). I saw only one jelly, a small moon jelly.There were sveral piles of bull kelp, and a lot of eel grass infested with beach-hoppers.

We went as a field trip with all our 6th graders from Crestview Heights in Waldport, Oregon. We did notice an abundance of what appeared to be new driftwood.
