I noticed six different driftwood logs had been set on fire. Five of them were out but one was still on fire. I made a phone call and the Park Ranger was there within 10 minutes.He was very nice. There were families playing on the beach. Dogs running to chase toys, kids playing in the water. A young man out learning to surf. An older couple watching the ocean waves together.The shoreline was full of shells, rocks, agates and such. It was a nice day with some clouds overhead.

Temperature: 60 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Tide Level: 6.0 feet.

Number of people: 35. Number of dogs: 5. Walking or running: 15. Playing in surf: 6. Playing in sand: 4. Sitting: 5. Surfing: 1. People playing in the sand, dogs playing, kids having fun. Did not see who lit driftwood fire.

Apparent violations: Fire in drift wood/called ranger to put it out.

We went as a field trip with all our 6th graders from Crestview Heights in Waldport, Oregon. We did notice an abundance of what appeared to be new driftwood.
