I ran into the State Park Ranger. He pointed out that the garbage receptical I was using was for beach debris only. It seems there is a new experimental project for Mile 200/Patterson Beach. There is/was a special sign and baggie dispenser for picking up debris found on the beach. The garbage can was to be used for the special baggies provided by State Parks only. The sign is a nice one, but long, lengthy and nothing to make people want to stop and read it. It needs a title line to attract people's attention. I honestly did not notice it. Did Coast Watch know anything about this project? It is a good idea, just needs a little tweaking. I was a little surprised by how green/brown the foam was. I'm more used to the cream/brown color. As a side note we picked up used fire works from July 1-July 5. I might add that the Park Ranger was not really aware of the CoastWatch program.
