Report Details

This dispatch is following up on a rip-rap project going on at the second house north of Little Creek/Big Stump Beach. Dump trucks are continuing to bring large rock to the site and the track hoe is setting what I understand to be backing rock. The track hoe also appears to be trenching at the base of the embankment where the larger boulders will be a starter course and then more boulders set on top of each row to eventually make a robust and protective rock wall.

Conditions

Temperature: 45 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: S. Tide Level: 2.5 feet.

Mile 199

Beachside SP, Waconda Beach, Little Creek

December 8, 2023

It was a gorgeous sunny day after all the rain. The barnacle log that I have been observing for months is still on the beach.

These have not been the highest waves of the storm season so far but they are still moving rock and scouring sand from the base of un-rip rapped foredune.
