Report Details

It has been a couple years since I have made a report on this mile. I have not been on the beach much. Today's visit was not complete but I hope that soon I can get back to making full reports. This is not our primary residence. Changes noticed since my last report are basically a cleaner beach with sand rebuilt at the top of the beach to ease access on and off the beach. Also, frontage bluffs of some of the houses has slipped down onto the beach. No properties appear to be threatened at this time.

Total dead birds: 1. Someone brought up to the top of the Wakonda Beach access what appears to be a dead puffin (image follows).

Dead Fish or Invertebrates

A news story on KGW Portland identified some invertebrates being found on Oregon/Washington shores as salps. Deb told me she came across some on this beach yesterday. I went with her with my camera today and found one whole and one partial between Wakonda Beach Rd access north to Little Creek. The whole one (image follows) was straight off of the road access.

These have not been the highest waves of the storm season so far but they are still moving rock and scouring sand from the base of un-rip rapped foredune.
