Calm, hazy morning on clean beach, with 9 people walking.
Report Details
Calm, hazy morning on clean beach, with 9 people walking. Notable was 1 unidentifiable gull carcass, 1 harbor seal carcass, with large wound of abdomen, few small superficial wounds 1-2" about head and neck, no post morten predation apparent. Animal probably dead 1-2 days, little bloating of otherwise normal weight animal. Jim Rice,MMS, notified, with pictures by cell phone.

Total dead birds: 1. I unidentified gull carcass.
Stranded Marine Mammals
Total stranded mammals: 1. 1 harbor seal ( about 70-80 lbs) carcass, probably dead 1-2 days, large wound of abdomen ( bite), few 1-2 inch superficial wounds about head and neck, not gunshot wounds. Location, just south of Beachside campground, at high tide line. No post death predation apparent. Jim Rice notified, with pictures, by cell phone.
