Report Details

Despite significant rain and wind during the night, the sun came out and the morning was quite beautiful. Probably because of that a lot of people were out with their dogs. The signage at marker 77 has apparently been washed away, but otherwise I saw no major changes in the topography of the shoreline since the stairs were replaced. I was surprised to see the dead whale again, as it had disappeared the last time I was in Yachats, presumably moved further out to sea by the tides.

Notable Wildlife

The baby whale that washed up in the Yachats delta a few months ago was there, partially buried in the sand with happy gulls sitting on the carcass, snacking and chattering noisily, Thankfully, there was no putrid smell as there had been.
