I was happy to see so many marine birds feeding along the surf and near the ocean today.

I was happy to see so many marine birds feeding along the surf and near the ocean today.There was a low High tide this morning so the surf line was low. It was also sparse and scattered.So few people on the beach on such a lovely day. Sand continues to build up, nearly obscuring the cobble, except on the upper portions of the beach. The patch of basalt one third of the way between the Muriel Ponzler parking lot and Big Creek. Only the tops of it's highest knobs are sticking out. Sand is beginning to drift into small dunes.

Temperature: 55 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: N. Tide Level: 2.0 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 6. Walking or running: 6. I noted ATV tracks on the beach, but did not see one.

Notable Wildlife
There must have been a large school of fish off shore, as I saw an Osprey with a small fish, Brown Pelicans, numerous Gulls, numerous Pelagic and Brandt Cormorants. The Turkey Vultures and Tree Swallows were also busy along the cliff lines.

The wrack line contained feathers, rocks, pieces of shells, a piece of rope, a piece of foam and a piece of a float. There is evidence of waves under cutting the bushes on the dune, retreat of the dunes and wave over topping.

The entry way to Muriel Ponsler has been enhanced by a load of gravel that was placed in the entry way ditch. There were a lot of sand filling in the beach which is usual in the summer.

A lot of people on the beach today backpacking, rock hounding, playing and picnicking on the beach. There was one large piece of fiberglass on the beach.

The entry way to Carl Washburn heading towards China Creek was very slippery with mud and by the wind sailor jellyfish.

21 people on the beach today. Continued erosion off the bottom of the cliffs.

As I entered the beach and walked toward China creek I saw a dead common murre in the wrack line.
