Report Details
At 7:30 a.m. it was very foggy and there were only about 10 cars in the parking lot, but when we left at 10:00 the parking lot was almost full. Early visitors were there because of the -2.4 low tide. Two people had just finished exploring the shoreline and rocks to the south. One man moved his chair down near the surf and just enjoyed breathing in the early morning empty beach. Everyone else was checking out the tidepools below the lighthouse. A Cape Perpetua Tidepool Ambassador helped point out various intresting tidepool treasures including a very small Ringed Nudibranch hiding under some seaweed. We were fortunate to spot a small Sea Cucumber stuck in the sand. At low tide, this is an excellent place to tidepool because of the easy access from the flat beach. At 10:00 the fog had almost lifted and visitors were intrested in seeing the Keeper's House, the gift shop, and the lighthouse. The next Tidepool Amassador led tour will be Bob Creek and Heceta Head State Park July 18 7:00-9:00am.
