Number of people: 80. Number of dogs: 3. Beautiful day on the Oregon Coast! There were many people out for the 4th of July. Most of the people were on the trail above the ocean line. Two families were camping at Secret Beach. My son and I leaped frog from the south to Secret Beach. He would hike north, while I moved the truck about a mile north and then I would walk back to his location. This is our second time hiking mile 16, so we haven't covered the whole trail yet. We have a missing piece between Secret Beach and Arch Rock. We hiked the trail from Arch Rock to the north end of mile 16. Lots of wildflowers in bloom: Tiger Lilies, Western Yarrow, monkey flower spp. and Tansy Ragwort. We also heard lots of Swainson's Thrushes. Haven't figured out the exact distance, will check next time with a GPS. It looks like the distance is close to 3 miles. Stay tuned for our next adventure!
