Report Details
Eugene Hikers parked at Tahkenitch Campground parking lot, noting 2 other cars. They hiked "Beach Access" trail and observed sand bank erosion at the access point. It was a beautiful day, with flat sand, some high clouds. The snowy plover protection area was roped off for most of beach mile. There were no birds, some deer or elk prints, and 3 people on beach. The Hikers picked up debris, including marine rope, lots of plastic bottles, and assortment of other items. The group left litter blown up on fore dunes, a car tire, and large plastic container all within the protected area. They plan to return in Fall to pick up more when protected area removed. Eugene Hikers left collected debris at the base of Emergency Sign #115A for State Parks to pick up.

Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.). Land and ocean-based debris was in drift line, on beach, and up by fore dunes.
Actions & Comments
Eugene Hikers notified State Parks ranger about picking up bags of debris at base on Emergency Sign. The end of this adopted mile is approximately 3+ mile hike to parking area and improved park site.
