Not the best of conditions for a beach walk in July so no surprise that noone else was present. State Parks and the Forest Service are doing a good job managing plovers in the area. Also walked mile 142.

Cloud Cover: Foggy. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: NE. Tide Level: 5.0 feet.

Closed to vehicle use. A beach ranger was patrolling but not included in count

Active snowy plover breeding area. Several birds noted between wrack line and within nesting habitat.

Total dead birds: 1.

Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces.
Actions & Comments
The beach looked good, nothing of concern in this remote area. Kudos to State Parks and the Oregon Dune personnel who gave accurate information about plover restictions and stopped to make sure we were informed.

The weather was crazy; as we hiked across the two mile expanse of dunes to access our mile, the weather went from somewhat sunny to hail and wind, to rain and back to sunny.
