Mile 139 Report
Oregon Dunes NRA, N of Tenmile Creek
November 9, 2013
We were "alone with the sea" would be an apt description.
Report Details
We were "alone with the sea" would be an apt description. A typical scene for this 2 mile section- the wind- and wave-swept beach almost devoid of logs and litter, with occasional wildlife present. The only possible physical changes here would be nature caused other than the man-caused and man-designated snowy plover habitat adjacent to the north side of 10 Mile Creek. Tire tracks on a restricted beach.
Conditions
Temperature: 50 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: W. Tide Level: 4.0 feet.
Human Activities
Tracks showed that a apparent 4X4 had driven down the (restricted) beach (apparently at high tide) from the Winchester Bay access point to within 1/4 mile of 10 Mile creek.
Vehicles
Notable Wildlife
very few birds, no mammals, invertebrates or (live) seaweed
Beached Birds
none on beach, 2 at extreme high tide levels in the 10 Mile Creek area
