It was a beautiful 1st day of the New Year!!! Collected about 1/3 bag of trash (water bottles, small pieces of styrofoam, small broken plastic pieces, plastic bags, rope, mesh bag, canvas tote bag from VA Administration, and one car tire). Quiet day.

Temperature: 50 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: 1.1 feet.

Very few birds. A few gulls and 10 sanderlings.
Driftline Content
Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces, Land-based debris (picnics, etc.), Marine debris (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea), Styrofoam, Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.). Found one car tire on beach near south end of mile. Carried it back to truck (photo attached).
