Report Details

Only two other people were out at 7 a.m. with me: rockhunting in a dicey surf resulting from the Chilean earthquake/tidal wave situation more than 24 hours earlier. Wildlife was scarce: only one gull that I startled from the tideline.Non-living entities were abundant in the form of lots more logs drifting in since my last report. In many areas, the accumulation extended at least 20 feet up the beach from the high-tide line to the base of the grassy dunes. The dunes are even more eroded by high surf. Styrofoam, plastic water bottles and assorted footwear constituted the bulk of trash collected.
