From the jetty to Table Rock on a chilly but lovely day, no one else was about to watch the hundreds of pelicans peeling off Table Rock to dive, skim the waves or just wing on over to the river.

From the jetty to Table Rock on a chilly but lovely day, no one else was about to watch the hundreds of pelicans peeling off Table Rock to dive, skim the waves or just wing on over to the river. Magnificent. Lots of gulls in the air out at sea and on the sand. No room on the big rocks, I guess.No new dead creatures. Lots of small rocks, some sea palms, kelp, sea grass in the driftline.

Hundreds of pelicans on Table Rock,the rock behind Elephant Rock, flying up the Coquille River and fishing offshore. Gulls flying or on the wet sand.

A calm, overcast morning of 55 drew 8 folks and 4 dogs to the beach at 7 a.

A chilly NW wind didn't deter 9 folks -- 5 rock hunting, the others walking -- from hitting the South Jetty beach on an overcast morning with a low tide of 0.

The northern half of this mile was engulfed by thick fog, but still attracted two other beach goers searching for agates.
