Report Details
Going south from the Coquille River was positively crowded (8 people, 7 dogs) between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. But it was a lovely morning with light wind and great sunrise color. Tide was low at 2.3 feet. A few gulls and a cormorant or two flew by. Small stones, logs and some plastic litter marked the tideline. Recent storm tides ate away a chunk of the vegetated dune at the access path from Madison Ave. The north section of the mile was empty by comparison, apart from a large flock of gulls hunkering down next to the jetty. Drift consisted of logs, small stones, sea palms, seagrass and plastic litter. Some dune erosion. Log pile at the now-closed parking area is shifting around.
