The stretch south of the Coquille River before sunrise on a cloudy day saw 6 whimbrels and gobs of gulls on the wet sand, 2 black oyster catchers on a close-in rock, foraging crows, and cormorants flying toward the river.

The stretch south of the Coquille River before sunrise on a cloudy day saw 6 whimbrels and gobs of gulls on the wet sand, 2 black oyster catchers on a close-in rock, foraging crows, and cormorants flying toward the river. Drift line contained sea grass clumps, plastic pieces and bottles, lots of white Styrofoam fragments, and scattered small rocks. The human component was not visible until the return walk around 7: 4 walkers, 1 dog walker, 2 rock hunters. Three vehicles were in the parking lot as well as several Canada geese.
