Mile 102 Report
Coquille River, South Jetty, Lighthouse
June 16, 2019
Windy, overcast or foggy, and 51 degrees marked my visits to both halves of Mile 102 at 5:30 a.
Report Details
Windy, overcast or foggy, and 51 degrees marked my visits to both halves of Mile 102 at 5:30 a.m. Tides were -1.3 or .4. Gulls, crows and sandhoppers were doing their thing, as were 2 walkers and 1 fisherman. Wrack lines showed kelp, algae, small stones, shell fragments and driftwood. Sand blown by moderate northerly winds has covered much wood in places and created drifts in others. No new shoreline modifications were obvious since the winter storms' erosion of vegetated foredunes and wave overtoppings. I found no litter on either stretch; either it went south on the winds or was buried in sand.
