This segment of Mile 102 heading north from the Coquille River was empty of humans, but the same cannot be said of the jetty. At least 10 fishermen were out there before dawn, judging from the pickups in the parking lot. Later, as our walk was winding up, two beachcombers came down. The wind was moderate on this cloudy morning close to a minus low tide. Cormorants, gulls and crows were the only other life forms out there. Stones, kelp piles, shell fragments were cast along the driftline. A half-dozen log structures extend from south of the parking lot to the northern mile boundary. No litter for a change.
