The southern stretch of the mile had an astounding number of people at 5:30 a.m.--4 taking photos, joined later by 8 others. Two regular beach walkers also were out. Gulls and black oystercatchers were the wild component. Driftline was composed of kelp, small stones, shell fragments and pieces of wood. No litter, surprisingly.The northern stretch, by contrast, was empty of humans. The driftline was similar to the southern part's. Notable wildlife consisted of a Bald eagle, a large flock of sanderlings and gulls all at the water line. The day was cloudy, windless and 55 at low tide of -0.7 feet.
