One other person walked the northern part of Mile 102 on a chilly overcast morning at low tide. A large flock of gulls gathered on the sand at the North Jetty. Numerous jellies of varying size, many of them a dark gold, marked the high tide lines, as did shell fragments, small stones, feathers, bull kelp, shredded pieces of wood, some litter and, of course, driftwood logs. Wave overtopping and erosion of the vegetated foredune were obvious. Interestingly, the stormy waves dislodged the concrete curbing along the upper beach parking lot. Logs brought in by the King Tide blocked almost half of that lot.

Notable Wildlife
Large flock of gulls on the sand near the north jetty of the Coquille River.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Unusual concentration. Numerous jellies of varying sizes, many of a deep golden color. The rest were clear.
Driftline Content
Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Wood pieces. Driftwood logs of assorted size; scattered feathers; bottle caps; plastic shards.
Natural Changes
Erosion of vegetated foredune, Evidence of wave overtopping.
Looking south toward the Coquille River, the sunrise clouds hover over Bandon and Mile 102..

The northern half of this mile was engulfed by thick fog, but still attracted two other beach goers searching for agates.
