On a very foggy, drizzly morning I saw no young elephant seal near the south jetty of the Coquille River as was reported the previous day.

On a very foggy, drizzly morning I saw no young elephant seal near the south jetty of the Coquille River as was reported the previous day. Nor was there a warning sign about the stranded marine mammal. Let us hope it swam out on the night's high tide.

A chilly NW wind didn't deter 9 folks -- 5 rock hunting, the others walking -- from hitting the South Jetty beach on an overcast morning with a low tide of 0.

The northern half of this mile was engulfed by thick fog, but still attracted two other beach goers searching for agates.
