Land Use Coordinator Featured in Estuary Podcast
Annie Merrill, Oregon Shores’ land use coordinator, was interviewed recently for the Beyond Your Front Door Northwest podcast.
The subject was “Protecting Oregon’s Estuaries.” Annie was interviewed by the program series producer and host, Dina Pavlis. Beyond Your Front Door Northwest is a weekly program exploring the Pacific Northwest’s diverse and interesting coast with local experts.
In the interview, Annie discusses the importance of estuaries in supporting coastal communities and mitigating climate change, while serving as crucial habitat for many species. She explains the estuary management plan process, and describes steps people can take to help protect these vital places.
Dina Pavlis, in addition to her radio work, has been a U.S. Forest Service volunteer interpretive ranger on the Oregon Dunes for 20 years. She is the author of the book “Secrets of the Oregon Dunes.” Dina is an avid hiker, outdoor enthusiast, and nature photographer. She also happens to be a CoastWatcher.
