Mile 94 Report
West of Laurel Lake, Lost Lake
June 2, 2008
Looked good to me, clean and unoccupied.
Report Details
Looked good to me, clean and unoccupied. Thought it odd that there were no small shore birds. Shells, mole crab casings, 2 black fishing floats, one crab float with line but no seaweed in driftline. Gulls and small pelicans on the beach. Somewhat more course sand deposits than in October 2007. Low human impact (0).
Conditions
Temperature: 55 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: N.
Human Activities
There were gulls and what I think are a small variety of pelican, but no small shore birds at all. I have been assuming the OHV tracks are made by a ranger but am not sure. Somewhat more course sand deposits than I remember from visits in October 2007. I was the only person present.
Concerns
Notable Wildlife
Sea gulls and what I think were a small specie of pelican. Noticed no other animals except sand fleas. The beach was clean of seaweed, unlike in October 2007.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Lots of small crab shells.
Driftline Content
Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Shells. Two round black fishing floats and one crab float with line attached.
Man-made Modifications
None.
Natural Changes
No bluffs.
Actions & Comments
Beach was cleaner of flotsom and jetsom than in October 2007.
