A very quiet morning on the beach.

A very quiet morning on the beach. My dog and I were the only ones there. Everything was very clean. There was quite a bit of sand build up on the foredune. There was evidence of ATV activity but no vehicle actually observed.

Temperature: 50 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: N.
Human Activities
Number of people: 1. Number of dogs: 1. Walking or running: 1. The ATV went north so I did not see it, but one vehicle in the parking lot had a tow cart for an ATV and I saw the tracks. The vehicle did not have a disabled license plate or ticket on the windshield, but, again, I did not see the ATV itself.Illegal ATV activity is a continuing problem.

Do to the 20 mph winds there was limited presence of humans or animals.

Everything seemed fine but I thought it was weird there were no birds

Most notable observations were the large amount of wrack debris, including fresh kelp, small woody debris, and remnants of dead gorse plants scattered along waveslope.

Hazy conditions due to smoke from wildfires in wilderness areas east of Port Orford. Juvenile snowy plover and common murre chick offshore indicate successful nesting. Bleached barnacles on rocks may indicate disease or exposure to extreme temperatures. New home construction noted at southeast end of beach.
