This small beach area is fairly well protected as mentioned except for a privately owned section between conservation easement properties. This private property owner has been throwing some cut logs down the bluff onto the beach.

It is protected by rocky outcrops/private property to the north and south, as well as limited access due to being edged on both sides by Wild Rivers Land Trust properties

Beached Birds

Total dead birds: 4. Cormorant juveniles, guillemot.

Driftline Content

Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Wood pieces, Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.). Very clean this visit

Natural Changes

Landslides/major boulder falls, Major cracks appearing in bluffs, Newly exposed roots/trees falling, Erosion of vegetated foredune, Visible retreat of solid bluff.

This private property owner sends sections of fallen timber over the bluff edge. I believe he knows
This bluff is part of the Nesika Beach Preserve, and is loosing ground regularly. Sitkas are capsizing along this short beach

We spent a good number of hours watching birds (cormorants, pigeon guillemots, adult and juvenile bald eagles, great blue heron, osprey carrying fish,  pelicans moving north, oystercatchers).
