We had a sunny day for a Christmas Day beach walk.

We had a sunny day for a Christmas Day beach walk. Our mile was very clean. There were the usual sandpipers making their way along the tideline with a dozen or so gulls.

Temperature: 45 F. Cloud Cover: Partly Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: SE. Tide Level: 5.5 feet.

Notable Wildlife
Friends of ours were on the beach by the Peter Iredale, one mile south of our mile, and saw a sea lion hauled out on the sand. It was not being disturbed.

walked part of this mile and picked up approximately 40 pounds of debris that has come in with the high tides. there was a lot of driftwood of all sizes, plus a high concentration of very small pieces of wood.

A very quiet day on our beach mile; a waning gibbous moon greeted us as we started our mile and cirrus clouds were on the horizon.

A very clean mile with only 4 other people sharing the beach with us.

An unusually large concentration of driftwood today; the dried velella velella were in the drift line and higher on the beach; along with the usual crab, mussel and crab shell there were some small shells unusual to our mile; picking up debris on our walk back south, there was an abundance of plastic bottle caps sans bottles.

The beach had more driftwood and some bullwhip kelp which we haven't seen lately.

A warm second day of fall on mile 338 with a slight mist from low hanging fog.

The wind would at times moves fog across parts of the beach from a cloud bank offshore.
