Mile 336 Report
Columbia Beach, Peter Iredale wreck, Fort Stevens SP
June 27, 2010
The tide was the lowest I've ever seen it in any of our visits over the years.
Report Details
The tide was the lowest I've ever seen it in any of our visits over the years. The tide was so far out the Peter Iredale was available to all with lots of beach between it and the waves. Many people were clamming - didn't seem them bringing anything in but they were trying! Lots of cars on the beach were also seen; it was during the time they were allowed but it was by far the most ever observed. The beach was very clean (I think the beach cleanup was the prior week). Overall nice day and a nice walk.
Conditions
Temperature: 66 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: N.
Human Activities
Number of people: 55. Number of dogs: 6. Walking or running: 6. Playing in sand: 14. Sitting: 13. Other Activities: 17 clamming. We were there earlier in the day when cars were allowed and there were plenty of them. Very low tide so lots of people were clamming. Also counted 16 bikes in the parking area.
