This was the first CoastWatch walk and is the first CoastWatch report for the Portland Czech School. Jesse Jones, CoastWatch Programs Manager, met the group to provide some interpretation and walk with us.

The tide was high and there was almost nothing in the tide line /no seaweed or shells or rocks/. There were lots of dead by-the-wind-sailors in the tide line and further on the beach.

This was very cold day on the coast at the end of January king tides. Brown foam on the waves and shore as well.

There was a fair amount of trash including fishing line, rope, food trash, plastic, and empty small liquor bottles.
