Report Details
These observations were made over the last 3 months walking the beach at different times of day but not keeping a record which I will try to start.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Pulled dead Salmon Shark from shallow water on beach and took picture of it. It was about 4 ft. long.
New Development
After State Parks took out stairs to beach on Columbia Avenue (between Clatsop and Tillamook Co) that had been privately built and installed and then damaged by Jan. 2021 King Tide, people began making steps and dangerous access in the bluff so as to get to the beach.
Man-made Modifications
New riprap or shoreline protection structures. Have been notified by Clatsop County that approval was given to house bordering Columbia Avenue and Tide Road on northwest to install riprap. Concern is that design could affect more sliding to neighboring properties.
Natural Changes
Landslides/major boulder falls, Newly exposed roots/trees falling, Visible retreat of solid bluff.
Actions & Comments
Called Clatsop Co Road Works. They installed a sign stating "dangerous cliff" which people tend to ignore. Mostly those without small children.

We walked the mile on a clear, chilly afternoon. We picked up trash--one full bag. We found a little eel, the same color as brown rockweed! We saw sea foam blowing on the sand. We found a small skull bone. We found a scientific measuring device planted in the cobble with a float saying that it was the property of OSU.
