Report Details

Erosion has abated on Mile 290 since that which occurred during the winter.  The northern and central sections of Camp Magruder have sustained the highest loss of bluffs and trees. The southern beachfront of Magruder and the adjacent beach down to Barview Jetty do not appear to have experienced any erosion comparable to the sections to the north.

Driftline Content

Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Wood pieces.

New Development

Bluff development. Noted on Mile 289

Man-made Modifications

Beachgrass planting or removal, New riprap or shoreline protection structures. These modifications are along Mile 289 - Revetment project along all shorefront properties at Pine Beach Loop between Shorewood and Camp Magruder, planted with dune grass. The changes listed below often naturally occur in winter, especially during high King tides, but appear to have been significantly exacerbated by the revetments at Pine Beach Loop.

Natural Changes

Newly exposed roots/trees falling, Erosion of vegetated foredune, Visible retreat of solid bluff, Evidence of wave overtopping. All along Pine Beach Loop and the northern and central sections of Camp Magruder on Mile 289.

Sent photographs and descriptions to Oregon Shores executive director during the installation of Pine Beach Loop revetment between 11/13/21 - 2/3/22.
