Conditions
Temperature: 65 F. Tide Level: 5.5 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 15. Number of dogs: 3. Walking or running: 7. Playing in sand: 7. I reported a dead sea lion 10/3/17 below the bluff at Winema. When I returned 2 days later there were tire tracks to and from the dead sea lion but it was still there in the dry sand.

Disturbances: Shorebirds moving in response to humans/dogs

Notable Wildlife
at least 8 pelicans on the sand at the mouth of Nestucca Bay

Total stranded mammals: 1. Dead sea lion reported 10/3/17
Driftline Content
Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces. The beach was exceptionally clean.
Natural Changes
The Daley Lake outlet did not flow to the shore as usual.

Significant erosion to the dune which has caused many trees of all sizes to fall to the beach and be washed northward. Of note: this same significant degree of erosion occurred for 2 1/2 miles: from the northern section of mile 254 through mile 257 at Camp Winema
