Mile 242 Report
Lincoln City, D River SW, Devils Lake SP, Oceanlake
August 11, 2011
The D River has changed its course - rather drastically.
Report Details
The D River has changed its course - rather drastically. It now winds around the beach in an elongated arc, rather than going straight out to sea as it usually does. We did a story on this:(http://www.beachconnection.net/news/driver081611_313.php ). Talked to Jonathon allan at DOGAMI about why this happened, and in a nutshell it's because of such high sand levels the low flow of the river can't discharge as usual.....follows the path of least resistance. Quite spectacular change, really, if you know what to look for.
