Report Details

We went for our walk at an early hour since it is a busy weekend with the Kite Festival up at the D River. It was pleasantly overcast, with sun breaks just starting to peek through. There were fishing boats not far offshore and limited human activity on the beach. 2 dogs were off-leash, and the humans were enjoying a nice walk. The most considerable event of note would be the bald eagle and its dispute with seagulls and crows. Another beachgoer speculated that the eagle has been after eggs from other birds' nests. It certainly would appear to be the case because those seagulls were relentless in their pursuit of the large predator.

Notable Wildlife

A bald eagle was spotted gliding above the beach. We speculated that it went after other bird's eggs/nests because when it was perched above the beach, crows and seagulls were divebombing the eagle. Later at the Canyon Rd. ramp, the eagle was being chased in flight by a determined seagull.
