We did our survey the weekend following King Tide.
Report Details
We did our survey the weekend following King Tide. It was very cloudy, and it rained periodically. A lot of wood debris along the beach, various sizes, and noted throughout the mile until D River. There were a few people collecting driftwood. Others were sifting through the rocks. And many people noted just walking/running on the beach. There were no concerns observed regarding disturbance to wildlife. There was a large crate among the driftwood. But other than the driftwood, there also wasn't much marine debris noted along the beach.

Temperature: 52 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: N.
Human Activities
Number of people: 104. Number of dogs: 14. Walking or running: 86. Sitting: 10. Fishing: 3. A few kids were using driftwood to make little forts, others were using the driftwood just to sit on.
Concerns
Driftwood removal
Apparent violations: There were a few people taking driftwood off the beach to their cars. Driftwood was small enough for them to carry in their arms..Vehicles
Notable Wildlife
There were a few seagulls flying around, and walking along the beach. On the rocks, we saw numerous amounts of what we believe were Oystercatcher birds. Luckily, no one on the beach disturbed any of the wildlife.
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 1. The one dead bird we did see was hard to identify just by looking. And there was no leg band present.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
There was not an unusual amount, but we did see mole crab casings along the beach in various areas.
Driftline Content
Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces.

People were enjoying a good spring day on the beach after an early afternoon rain.

This was the first sunny and warm day of spring, and lots of visitors filled the beach; almost like a summer day! Significant sand erosion had recently occurred and many logs have been moved higher onto the beach.
