Mile 237 - Gleneden Beach north, golf course - November 27, 2020

Report Details

It was a busy day with more people on the beach during my walk than usual. It was on the cold side and yet a few people in the water. My main concern was riprap installation where no structures have been built. The dunes in the two locations had no apparent erosion, so I'm not sure what was being stabilized.

Cloud Cover: Partly Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light.

Other Activities: Three people using metal detectors.

Small rocks, Wood pieces. very little of any material on the beach

Man-made Modifications

New riprap or shoreline protection structures. At the north end of mile 237, there were three locations with new riprap, two of which were in locations where there were no structures, but appeared there may be future construction. The northern most riprap was in the process of installation (rocks there, but not all in place). Not much if any intrusion onto the beach - one the least invasive riprap jobs I have seen.
