Nice day on the beach except for an annoying chocolate lab who decided it was far more fun to follow me & my dog then stay w/his people. See Comments. I wish people would obedience train their dogs better before letting them off leash at the beach.Otherwise, a nice day at the beach. It had clouded up a bit by the time I left. Beach was clean. My guess re: tide height may be inaccurate, high tide at SB,Or (HMSC) was listed in my tide table as 6.5' at 5 p.m. I was on or near the beach from about 1:45-3 p.m. People on the beach ranged from 17 to 30 or so. I thought there might've been more drift logs then usual piled up at the base of the cliff towards the south end of the mile, I've attached a photo.

Actions & Comments
During the first half of my walk (walking south) I saw about 22 people. I saw an additional 6 or 7 people before I reached the south end of my mile. Some people who'd been on the beach when I got there had left by the time I was halfway back to the north end of my mile. So people on beach ranged from 17 to 30 or so. An annoying chocolate lab decided it was far more fun to follow me and my dog then stay with his people. Completely ignored the calls of the two members of his family who were nearby. I tried just standing with both dogs standing & waiting for me to toss the ball for a few minutes(hoping one of the dog's people would come over and catch the dog, but no luck). The dog completely ignored my request that it go away away.He was of those dogs who have learned to bark sharply/shrilly over and over again until whoever is around tosses the ball--regardless of a command to quiet or shut up. Annoying habit. After a few more tosses (my dog outraced him to the ball every time--that chocolate lab, like quite a few others I've seen tended towards chubbiness), he finally stole the ball out from under my dog's nose (she'd put it down for a moment), then ran away from the one of his people who'd finally decided to walk over to try to catch the dog. My dog and I continued our walk and started climbing up a path from the beach shortly after. I think eventually another family member actually caught the dog & got the ball from him. I was leaving the beach by then. I wish people would obedience train their dogs better before letting them off leash at the beach. The beach isn't a dog park w/out a dog park's rules.

Sunny & warm day, with more people & dogs then I've seen in years on the beach, probably because of the heat wave in PDX, the Willamette Valley & so much of the US. In addition to walking the mile to do a Coastwatch report, I participated in a Surfrider day after the 4th beach trash pickup.

Low tide at Yaquina Bay was listed as 12:16 pm today, the north jetty & a headland, and probably about 8-10 miles separate YB from the beach at Otter Rock where my mile is located, I don't know how much those factors change (or not) the exact tide level when I stepped onto the beach this morning OR when I left, about noon. Overall a beautiful day on the beach, on my arrival there were probably 23 people (including surfers) on the beach, that number increased to the number I entered.

Very low tide this am, I have no idea what the exact tide level was so I didn't enter a number.

Quite a dynamic winter on this mile, more erosion noted, and a moderate sized slide seen on the mile.

Nice day for a walk on the beach, clean beach, saw 6 cyclists (one solo, I think the rest were more or less together), first time I've seen cyclists on this beach, have seen them off & on from the south jetty north to Lucky Gap access.

Pretty day on the beach, I was on the beach when the tide was going out, my South Beach tide table indicates the low tide in SB was at 9:43 am & 1.
