Report Details
Actual time on beach was from 3:55pm to close to 5pm and I don't know the exact tide height, low tide for the Marine Science Center dock was listed as 0.9 at 2:55pm. Looked like there was some storm surge, lots of surf & the tide was definitely coming in. # of people on beach changed, there were perhaps 3 people at the south end of my mile by the time I ascended the stairs at the north end of the mile. Everyone else had left. Beach was even cleaner than usual today, no doubt because of the work of all the SOLV volunteers yesterday. I saw 5-7 full SOLV bags piled around the trash cans at the state park restrooms. Thanks SOLV volunteers!Much greater volume of water in all creeks/culverts then usual, due to the heavy rainfall in the past few days.I took a few photos (attached)of (1) what looked like a recent slide/erosion of the part of the headland at the north end of the mile. (2) driftline, (3) colorful beach sediment/particles; (4) two different/separate erosion sites on the same section of bluff. It was sunny for part of my walk, rained for only 10-15 minutes. A very welcome break from the rain, snow and strong winds of the past few weeks.
Conditions
Temperature: 45 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: SW. Tide Level: 1.1 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 15. Number of dogs: 4. Walking or running: 8. Tidepooling: 2. Other Activities: sitting on/playing on driftwood log. All but one dog under control.

Sunny & warm day, with more people & dogs then I've seen in years on the beach, probably because of the heat wave in PDX, the Willamette Valley & so much of the US. In addition to walking the mile to do a Coastwatch report, I participated in a Surfrider day after the 4th beach trash pickup.

Low tide at Yaquina Bay was listed as 12:16 pm today, the north jetty & a headland, and probably about 8-10 miles separate YB from the beach at Otter Rock where my mile is located, I don't know how much those factors change (or not) the exact tide level when I stepped onto the beach this morning OR when I left, about noon. Overall a beautiful day on the beach, on my arrival there were probably 23 people (including surfers) on the beach, that number increased to the number I entered.

Nice day for a walk on the beach, clean beach, saw 6 cyclists (one solo, I think the rest were more or less together), first time I've seen cyclists on this beach, have seen them off & on from the south jetty north to Lucky Gap access.
