There were several people on the beach, it being Memorial Day weekend.

There were several people on the beach, it being Memorial Day weekend. Several were flying kites. The Beverly Beach Campground was full. Several driftwood huts have appeared during the past few weeks, some being used for fire shelters. A moderate amount of molted shells were seen, most close to the water.

Temperature: 59 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: 4.1 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 100. Number of dogs: 6. Walking or running: 75. Playing in surf: 8. Playing in sand: 6. Sitting: 10. Fishing: 1. Some fort-building with driftwood. Approximately 8-10 forts, some that have been there for a number of weeks. Some new during this past weekend. A few being used as fire shelters.

No birds on the beach. A few seagulls and turkey vultures in the air overhead.
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Unusual concentration. Several velella velella hydrozoans on the shore, perhaps stranded by the wind. Several molting artifacts from crabs and a smaller amount from mole crabs.

Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Wood pieces.
Natural Changes
Major cracks appearing in bluffs. Landslides/major boulder falls
Actions & Comments
We picked up several pounds of trash, primarily broken glass, cans, and plastic.

Probably less people on the beach than a usual low tide mid-Feb afternoon, due to cold, overcast, windy conditions, plus it was the Super Bowl.
