Conditions
Temperature: 40 F. Cloud Cover: Cloudy. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: NW. Tide Level: 1.5 feet.
Human Activities
Number of people: 2. Number of dogs: 2. Walking or running: 2.
Notable Wildlife
1 black oystercatcher on the tide rocks, about 15 scoters in the surf, 2 gulls on the surfline with several others who flew overhead, 2 crows, 2 vultures soaring, 2 song sparrows
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 1. Gull feathers were strewn across an approximately 50’ stretch on the beach, just south of Wade Creek.
Driftline Content
Small rocks, Seaweeds and seagrass, Shells, Wood pieces, Marine debris (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea), Styrofoam, Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.). Many small rocks on the south 1/2 of the mile. Many small plastic debris, especially near Wade Creek; I hadn’t seen this much in a year, maybe ever in the 2 years I’ve come to this beach; more here compared to what I’ve seen at Otter Rock Beach, where usually there’s a high concentration of small plastics. Found 5 small plastic bags of dog poop (beach and parking lot). 4 plastic water bottles, including 2 from East Asia and 1 that looks like it’s produced in Mexico and Colombia (Saviloe), 18 cigarette butts (5 on the beach, 13 in the parking lot)

A windy day without much to report; just the usual off-leash dogs (no shorebirds present to potentially be flushed) and trash.

Mile 222
Moolack Beach N, Coal Creek, S of Wade Creek
The beach fire close to vegetation, and somewhat close to access point was the main unusual concern to report, otherwise just the usual concern of trash.

Mile 222
Moolack Beach N, Coal Creek, S of Wade Creek
Notable highlights: relatively small landslide at the mile's middle parking lot; large piece of shipping debris; large tree debris (unusual to see large natural or unnatural debris at this mile; the usual trash (though as usual, less than seen at miles 223 and 224 to the north); a bald eagle and barn swallows!
