Concerns

Apparent violations: There were an extremely large number of orange fishing lures on the beach, which caused me considerable concern, as these can easily be mistaken for real fish and eaten by large predators. I feel especially guilty considering I used one of these on a fishing trip a year ago, and I cannot help but wonder if one of the lures was my own. I'm not sure if it is a rational choice to phase out the use of such lures, as they are very popular with fishermen, but perhaps supplementing them with a different lure that cannot easily break off (ex. just an ordinary fishing hook with organic bait on it). Some reforms are needed, however, as the coastal ecosystem cannot tolerate having this much artificial bait in its environment..
