Mile 212 Report
Holiday Beach north, Moore Creek, Grant Creek
April 16, 2017
Nice day on the beach with lots of people out enjoying the low tide.
Report Details
Nice day on the beach with lots of people out enjoying the low tide. Mostly calm with surf around 4-5'. Many rock hunters, several people with clipboards doing surveying something(?) and several families milling around. A number of guillemots were perched in small holes near the top of the bluff and swooping back and forth to the water line. Lots of small velella velella have collected over the past week. Not many other birds due to the large number of people. Over the past few wees work has been done on one unstable area. Sheet piles were driven in behind the unstable area and new drainage was nstalled that extends to the beach. A long stairway damaged by the settlig bluff is slated for removal as directed by the State Parks. One other item of interest is a small picnic table that washed in a few weeks ago and has settled into the sand.

New Development
Drainage pipes. Bank work along one unstable section includes sheet piles to stabilize bluff and new drainage. A photo included of the beach section of the pipe is attached. Work will also result in the removal of the old stairway damaged as a result of bluff settling. This includes a large concrete base on the beach.
Actions & Comments
I've talked with the State Parks representative who is requesting the old stairway be removed.
