Great day to be on Baker Beach. Squid - 139 cm long, still alive when first seen, changing colors when moved by waves - beautiful.

Number of people: 20. Number of dogs: 2. Walking or running: 11. Playing in surf: 2. Other Activities: 4 horse riding, 3 dead bird survey. Baker Beach has never been so busy - hiking group from Eugene, 2 different horse groups, small child playing in water, two walkers and the Dead Bird Survey Team WOW!

Total dead birds: 10. 6 Common Murres, 1 Double-crested Cormorant and one Brandt's Cormorant
Dead Fish or Invertebrates
Unusual concentration. Squid - 139 cm long, still alive when first seen, changing colors when moved by waves - beautiful. Gulls had already removed eyes. 2 hours later Turkey Vultures had arrived but there were still faint body movements.
