Lots of people on Baker Beach, horseback riders from Bend,local riding school riders, mules, the COASST team identifying dead birds and folks just walking. After all the storms it was just nice to be out on the beach.
Conditions
Temperature: 50 F. Cloud Cover: Sunny. Wind Velocity: Calm/Light. Wind Direction: SW. Tide Level: 7.8 feet.
Activities
Number of people: 25. Number of dogs: 15. Walking or running: 6.
Other Activities: 18 horses, 4 mules. Never seen this many people on the beach before..

Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 35. There were 22 birds that had been tagged in December (refinds) and 13 new birds that were tagged. Most of the dead birds were Northern Folmurs.

Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings or molts, Ocean-based debris (from fishing boats, ship trash, etc.), Plastic debri (plastic, styrofoam, etc. washing in from the sea), Shells, Small rocks, Wood pieces.

The last time I surveyed the beach, there was very little debris to be found, This time, unfortunately, there was a lot!
