Sand have been storm eroded by about 3 ft.
Report Details
Sand have been storm eroded by about 3 ft. exposing old logs and shells. Recent long periods of rain have caused water to surface and create creeks and rivulets near foot of dunes, draining toward sea. In some areas water came out of flat dry sand and created rivulets and shallow creeks. Dead Auk and Grebe.

Notable Wildlife
absence of wildlife: only 2 crows, 1 gull and not because of presence of dogs.
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 2. W.Grebe, Murrelet. Both seem "freshly" dead (oximoron) as their eyes were still moist and whole, and their bodies had not yet been disturbed, if you know what I mean.

Another glorious sunny winter day at Heceta Beach! The recent high tides have washed away most of the summer dunes that accumulate on the high beach in front of the vegetation zone. Just another day in paradise!
