Notable Wildlife
Unusual/cool: As I was walking through the dunes to reach the beach, a CG helicopter flew overhead. Then I heard what I think were coyotes barking and yipping from the dunes. They were probably triggered by the sound. Or...?
Beached Birds
Total dead birds: 2. common murres, both. Adults, I think.
Driftline Content
Seaweeds and seagrass, Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Animal casings (e.g., crab, shrimp molt), Shells. Unusually high number of jellyfish pieces, both brown and clear. I don't remember seeing that much before.
Actions & Comments
High sand volume; didn't see boat. Saw group of about 200 sanderlings, about two dozen gulls. Great day at the beach; warm, not so windy, with forecast for rain all over Oregon the next day. I was happy to be there.

There is a lot of buzz about whether the stuff on the beaches these days is from the tsunami.
