Report Details

This was a cursory visit, as we did not actually get to our mile, but viewed the general area from afar (at least a mile). We were lashed with rain, and were recovering from a 9 mile walk the day before, to visit the site of the supposed George L. Olson shipwreck, at or near mile 125.I will post some photos at that mile's site, as it appears to be unadopted.

Conditions

Temperature: 48 F. Cloud Cover: Rain. Wind Velocity: Moderate. Wind Direction: S.

Human Activities

Evidence of substantial beach erosion from earlier winter storms. Also seems as though sand is being replaced gradually

Vehicles

Cars/trucks parking: 1.

Notable Wildlife

none

Natural Changes

Erosion of vegetated foredune.

Actions & Comments

It would appear that 3-4 feet of sand has been scoured from the beach during the heavy winter storms, and since some sand has been replaced by now, the erosion may have been greater.
