Mile 146 Report
North Jetty, South Jetty Umpqua River, Lighthouse
June 10, 2011
It was a beautiful day at the beach.
Report Details
It was a beautiful day at the beach. One family of three was tossing a Frisbee, two young children played in the sand while their parents relaxed close by. Three other children were splashing in the waves and one sat down to let the waves roll over them, joyfully absorbing the experience. Others walked their dogs (all on leashes). Some seagulls flew over (maybe a dozen) and a black bird (crow looking) was on the beach. Driftwood was high on beach and seemed to be settled in from past storms. One structure was man made on the beach from driftwood (see picture). Only one piece of plastic garbage was found and removed, a beach patrol truck drove through about 3:30. From 3:15 until 4:30 PM, folks came and left the beach in a steady flow. Nothing unusual or discomforting was notable.
